  1. Using tmpgenc, which are the best options to select when encoding an svcd for use on a television? if possible, list all aspects (i.e., ratio, interlaced/progressive, display)...i am interested in making the highest quality movie that i can, while still retaining WIDESCREEN status. also, if i have vidz that aren't wide screen (home movies and such), can i make them widescreen without affecting the display on the tv??

last question: sometimes while encoding i get audio that wanders from the action lips, and isn't in sync...is there anyway to stop this from happening??

I'd like to know too,for ecodeing to Vcd.

I have the program and so far the few things I've made with It look pretty great, but I'm wondering if there's anything else I should know.

Pretty much all I do is launch It,select VCD NTSC at 29.97fps.On the next screen I select browse and find the mepg, then I select interlace at the bottom-which I'm don't even know what that's for or why I should do It.Then on the next screen I select noise reduction and then CD-R-80min and click to start encodeing.

Then once I'm fineshed I bring the encoded mepg1 to nero 5.5 burning rom,use nero's vcd creation to burn It to a VCD.

So far what I've done has turned out okay. But there's so many crazy options like that quantum matrix thingy, felid order,de-multiplex and aspect ratio.I don't know what any of that is.

http://www.geocities.com/arwengoenitz/files/tmpgplusprofiles.zip SVCD encoding profiles for PAL.
If you are using NTSC you should change obvious things like the resolution to 320x240 and framerate to 30.
These profiles are also for VCD...just change the video type to MPEG1 instead of 2, and the stream type to Video CD for 2X and Video CD (Non Standard) for 1X.
