    i made a small avi using camstudio. the video has a few MAC/IP address that i dont want displayed in the video. Any software i can use to blot or blur them out of the video?

    avidemux, load the video, choose a video codec under video, click filters, under Misc add the Mplayer delogo, click configure and change the size and location so it's over the ip-address, click preview to see how it looks like and last save as a new avi file.

    VirtualDub and a Logo filter would be one choice. One here: http://www.compression.ru/video/logo_removal/index_en.html There are some guides at the bottom of the VD toolpage. You will have to re-encode, though. You can increase the bitrate a little to make up for encoding quality loss but you will gain some filesize.

    You may also be able to add a blank subtitle over the numbers to obscure them, and that may be a bit easier than the Logo filter.

    EDIT: It looks like Baldrick may have a better method.
