I am using FAVSC 1.6 with HCenc 0.22

I have been trying to make a DVD but for the last like 10 hours It keeps popping up with the same HCenc window...

It isn't going any farther. Using AVS Scripted videos due to overscan issues on my CRT TV...I put 8 videos so I could have a menu.

    Here it is..

Try using Quenc as your Mpeg2 encoder in FAVC and see if the problem persists

Or Use HCEnc, but use a 2-pass VBR encode instead. I have seen this happen before, only on certain files, and changing the encoding method is the only fix. The problem lies in the way FAVC tries to find the appropriate quant value for a single pass quality based encode. Sometimes it simply gets into a loop from which there is no way out. I know Mr_Odwin has made several refinements over the past few versions specifically to address this problem, but it still happens from time to time.

It can't happen in 1.07. There are a fixed number of iterations before it "gives up" and chooses the closest one found so far.

Good to know. I haven't upgraded to 1.07 yet, and with multi-processor support in HCEnc, doing a 2-pass encode hasn't been much of a burden on fast machines.
