i used "send to" dvd drive to back-up some video files and when i went to restore them the dvd wont load.its a sony dvd-r,clean,no scratches.it loaded at first and showed the files but the green vista "progress" bar just kept going.it was in the process of picking out the frame to use as the clip display.i right clicked one of the files to look at my options and it kind of froze so i tried reloading the disc.it wouldnt load, restarted, tried safe mode, restarted, let it load and waited hours on end restated, needless to say the disc simply will not load.or register or whatever it does when you double click the drive to bring up the files then the green bar comes back(not sure if load or read is the right term).ive tried numerous programs to try to read the disc nothing works.i think something went wrong and its trying to format the disc but it cant because its full.one good example of a sympton im having with this disc is(which ive encountered in the past)programs seem to lock when the disc is in the drive which is still "loading"of course but when i eject the disc programs return to normal.other backup discs and dvds will load and play.i think something went wrong with the disc or its simply yet another wonderfull sony faulty disc.if there is any cure for this it would be most appreciated.thank you

"Send To" is a Windows process, and could have launched anything. That is also going to be packet-written in most cases, which is not very cooperative on DVD media in most folks experiences.

You may need to import the previous session, and then finalize, using burning software. Nero, maybe ImgBurn (not tried this before).

And don't do that again. If you want to back up data, use ImgBurn and BUILD mode, then create a normal ISO/UDF discs, not a packet-written mess. Don't use SEND TO.

Open Windows Explorer/My Computer and then insert the disc into your player. You should be able to browse the disc contents. If Windows can't read the disc, then you can try running Nero/Roxio/ImgBurn and see if they can recognize the disc, at which point you may be able to finalize it. Although, if Windows can't read the disc, you likely won't get anything else to read it either. You could try it on another PC, but don't hold your breath.

Windows won't read the previous sessions. You must open the disc in burning software.

    Which version of Nero?

In v6 (full version) ... it was the same in Nero 4 and 5 .... go to RECORDER (File, Edit ... Recorder) and DISC INFO

It should say something about importing the session.

I've not done multi-session in years, so I don't exactly recall.

RTFM. The help file surely has info on importing previous sessions. That's probably how I learned.
