What exactly are you trying to do? It is not clear from your post. Are you trying to burn a iso with dvddecrypter? Give all the info you can about your method.

make sure you have the correct usb drivers installed with your hp 740e external drive. also use only VERBATIM DVD+R DUAL LAYER media and use IMGBURN to burn DUAL LAYER as well.

Because MEMOREX DL DVD media is crap that's why you're getting discs that cannot be burned completely. As I've already suggested buy VERBATIM DL DVD+R media and burn with IMGBURN then you'll be fine. I don't understand why people buy crap dvd media and expect it to burn correctly when it doesn't.

you must be right. Upon your advice I went and got a 3pk dvd+r of verbatim, and guess what... IT WORKED.... too bad they are so damn expensive. Whats up with that, I thought I bought a burner that would be fairly versitile... My friend has a crappy dell and it reads WINDATA... I doubt you have even heard of that. He has no problems with any media he buys....

He will in a year or two when he can't read the data. For the cost of a few bucks, Verbatim are well worth it.

I guess your right Thank you all for your help. Im a newby, I have no idea what the hell im doing, I just want to "back up" some dvds. If there is anything I can do to help the forum please let me know.

On a side note. How do the HP740e drives work, I mean as far as quality and all that. What is a good brand to buy? I think I may want to sell this one and try for a better more versitile drive.

Glad to hear you bought VERBATIM DL and they work for you. As for other brands of dvd burners I'd suggest PIONEER 112D or LG-H62. Take a look at the forums at Cdfreaks.com. They have a PIONEER, LG, SONY/LITEON, SAMSUNG, PLEXTOR, BENQ/PHILIPS, NEC & BTC forums. Check it out!
