After inserting burnable media into the drive, I get this message: Unable to burn DVD, unable to access the Video_TS.ifo.

It only happens with one particular dvd. The dvd is slightly scratched, could that be the reason why the ifo file can't be accessed? I use 123copyDVD '08 Gold to back up my dvds.

I checked the folder where the burned dvd files are temporary stored and there is a 16kb ifo file in there.

I run 123copydvd in drive C and the temp files are stored in another internal drive, I was wondering if that could be a problem?

If the problem only happens with that DVD, where the files are stored is not likely the problem. I'll also assume that the disc isn't a newer one from Sony or others that use ArCoSS encryption, which can cause all sorts of odd problems.

But the scratches could make a difference. You could try ripping it with DVD Decrypter and set it to ignore most errors. Or polish up the disc a bit and try it with your software. Some audio stores will polish a disc for a low price.

Or you might try to rip it to your hard drive with DVDFab HD Decrypter, then process it with DVD Shrink to reduce the filesize. I would also recommend burning with ImgBurn. That's all freeware, so little to lose except time. If you want to keep all the menus, etc., then you might look into DVD Rebuilder. It re-encodes, which takes a while, but the results are usually better. Also free.

    And welcome to our forums.

Actually, it's a foreign TV series. I'll check out the programs you mentioned.

Thanks a lot for your reply!

If it's foreign, make sure it's not for a different region or in a different format like PAL.
