    Hello everyone;

I'm new at this forum and I wish you could help me.

I recently downloaded Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6, and I was enchanted with it, given that I had similar programs, but none allowed me to burn my slideshow to a DVD [since I needed about 4.7 GB memory].

Anyway, I created the slideshow, everything went great, got to the part of actually burning the slideshow to a 4.7 GB DVD, however, I noticed that even though I had already loaded the DVD, the 'Disc Type' option said -Empty-, I thought that was weird, so instead I loaded a normal CD, and the Disc Type changed to Cd-R. No problem with that.

Pretty weird for me. I dont know I'm guessing my computer or the program isn't recognizing the DVD. And I don't know what to do.

Please help me! Anything you have to say is very valuable.

    Thanks in advance,
    Diane

No , but there are many forums .

Anyway , I cant tell you what it may have been the cause as I do not use that particular product from ulead , but some clue's .

    A: The disk showed "empty"

Well that could have been "its ready" or "I dont like that disc , get it out"

B: Yes , when cdr is inserted , thats what it dose change to anyway , not a problem .

The real issue may have been caused by :

1: Bad quality media ... verbatim or ty's will cause less problems .
2: Disc ok , but project too large for intended media inserted into drive ... a gotcha .

Best method is not to burn directly any project directly to dvd .

Output to a folder on your hard drive , then when its completed , check how large the folder is , if larger than intended media , you may beable to knock it down a tad using dvdshrink , or revise project settings such as max video bitrate .

There's no major issue with full d1 source at a video bitrate of 3800 ... if there is , its hardly noticable anyway .

Then burn the output using imgburn instead of the uleads internal media burning setup .

    ----

Now having said all that , I should have asked .

Are you sure you have a dvd burner ???

Thats popped up a few times before here in the forum , where op's (you are op for this post) , are not entirely sure as to what equipment they have installed in the pc , and miss this fact .

Go into control panel , system , hardware tab , device manager > dvd/cdrom drives .

What is model of drive ?

For once I know the project isn't in any way bigger than the intended DVD.

I was just doing a test run with only part of the slideshow with music background, menu, everything and it only was 840 MB, and my DVD was 4.7 GB!!

However, now that you mention it, I quite doubt if I have a DVD burner...

I did as you told me [
Go into control panel , system , hardware tab , device manager > dvd/cdrom drives] and this shows up:

    Driver Version: 5.1.2535.0

    Hey everyone again...

    Problem sort of solved...

I was using my desktop to do the slideshow and it didn't recognize the DVD.

So I went and installed the program in my laptop and now its recording fine.

It was my desktop too old >_<

    Thank you for the replies!
