MOVIEGEEK - Appreciate you trying to help, but you should have noticed that the "review" you linked to has ZERO reviews in it, so what you have is in effect a placeholder and NOT IN ANY WAY reliable information. Theodorist provided a link from LG that says that the player does indeed play Divx.

Theodorist - Thank you for providing the screen shot. That is most helpful. My guess is that probably packed bitstream in your Divx file is a problem. You can remove it with MPEG4Modifier without having to re-encode. Also you posted in the wrong forum. This should have been in the DVD & BluRay Players forum. Finally, please go here and read this:

Anything in this list may be a problem for your DVD player.

I would also cut that AVI file down is size and burn it to a test CD(as DATA) to see if the player recognizes it. Looking at the specs for that player....Xvid and Divx are listed under types of DISCS played.

Also try converting the audio to 44.1 instead of 48. I have an hard drive based player attached to my TV and audio is always the culprit with lack of playback issues.
