    Hi there,

I have a .mkv HD video. Now, I wish to convert the video to avi. The problem is i tried alot of ways with alot of proggies but it seems i can't get ahold of it.
    I followed this guide:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=241422

Installed the CCCP codecs from the matroska site. The guide mentioned up here, when opening in Virtual Dub it gives some errors, and as astreams it only gives the audio. I also tried mkvextractgui, it extract the audio track which is a .ac3 one, and gives some error about the video.

Now what i know is the video plays in vlc but it stutters abit, so i wish to convert to avi in order to play it in powerdvd using the purevideo feature for performance improvement.

I need some help or someone who has tried this before. Sorry if i posted this in the wrong section.

    Cheers

I tried that method, the process seems to have gone fine. The problem is that WMP wont play the file, it just doesn't start. And powerdvd locks up as if trying to load the file, but doesn't load it at all.

Now that i tried merely every possible method, i wish to know if my PC can at least handle HD first thing.

    My Setup:

    P4 3GHz S478
    1GB RAM
    6600GT AGP
    WD 320GB

    Regards

Try it in VLC Player. VLC Player has every codec built into the program and doesn't rely on exterior codec settings, it does it all on it's own. That just might work to getting it to play back.

In VLC it plays, but the problem is that it stutters on bits of the video were theres some action. I wanted to convert it to see if purevideo from nvidia would fix this problem.

Are you sure you're using the latest version of MKVExtractGUI and the underlying mkvtoolnix?

Thanks for the help, used the last app and extracted the video.h264 and audio.ac3 files. I managed to play them in powerdvd but at much higher system resources then VLC. So purevideo installation and pdvd features are quite useless...

Thanks for all the help and for these cool apps!
