hi guys. long time lurker here.
i have a problem. my data dvd (fujifilm with mid ritek 05) passed nero check when burned in my external pacific digital recorder (repackaged toshiba with up to date firmware) but was not recognized once ejected. my newly purchased pioneer 111d also did not recognize the disk. however, my school cd/dvd drive (hl-dt.st rw/dvd gcc-44818 - it came with the dell computers) recognized it. can someone explain to me why this happened since my other fujifilm media with mid ritek05 did not have any problems?
thanks

How media works with different drives and DVD players varies with the media and, to a lesser extent, the drive, but Ritek G05 is garbage. Stick with media like Verbatim or any Made in Japan (MIJ) stuff. Computer DVD readers/writers are usually a little less finicky than DVD players, but problems still occur. You *MIGHT* be able to update the firmware of the drive that doesn't recognize the disc but that usually only helps with writing, not reading, and updating firmware has its problems too. In any case, I'd back up that DVD to some other media ASAP.

yeah thanks.
i use yuden t02 and sony now. ever since this happened i've been backing up everything.
just thought it was odd that ony one player was able to recognize a disc that normally is recognized in my other drives. all the files in that disc worked perfectly (no cyclic redundancy check errors/etc).
