    I have Windows ME and am editing a .DAT video file with VirtualDub 1.4.10 but I can't frameserve it to TMPGEnc 2.53 even with the AVIFile client installed. Is .DAT a whole different thing from AVI and can't be framserved using VirtualDub or what?

    Please help with this question.

    i'd try renaming your file, if it's avi change the .dat to .avi if it's mpeg(if it's from a vcd or some such) then to .mpg
