    purchased a previously viewed dvd from block buster. i want to burn a backup but the dvd burner doesn't recognize the dvd. my dvd player has no problem reading the dvd. the burner can read any dvd i put in it but this blockbuster dvd. how do i get the burner to recognize this dvd

  2. First - What is the title of the DVD in question?

    Second - Since it's a previous rental, take a good look at the surface for scratches.

    Your next step will depend on the specifc title and whether the disk is scratched.

    the name of the movie is white chikc and there are some scratches towards the center of the dvd

  4. sounds like its probably the disc itself then.....either you can take it back and try and get em to swap it for a differant one or else take it somewhere to get it resurfaced......if your dvd burner can't read it, its not very likely that your dvd player will read it correctly, either....

    Try and use ISObuster to rip the movie to your HDD

    if the disc is scratched using iso buster would not help if he can't rip the disc to begin with. i suspect his dvdrom/dvdburner is not able to read discs that are scratched. try using the disc in someone elses computer. plextor dvdrw, benq 1620 & 1640 dvdrw's are known to read scratched discs.

  10. White Chicks has no unusual copy protection. Since the scratches are at the center of the disc, and discs play from the center out, that's the likely cause of your problem. Blockbuster has a thirty day replacement policy on defective DVD's - take advantage of it.
