i wanted to watch my divx movies on my tv so i hooked it up to my pc using a 10m. s-video to composite cable...

my problem is the picture on the tv has these static lines rolling vertically... does anybody know why this is happening? or possibly know how to solve it?

It's best that you have a video card with TV out (either S-video or composite) of either ATI or nVidia chip. The video card driver will be able to control the display on TV e.g. over-scan, height and width control.

Alternatively, you can get a DVD player that supports Divx. This is a cleaner solution.

i do have all those and finished configuring the video card, but the output is displaying what seems to be bad signal problems, there's some kind of interferance coming from somewhere

dvd player with divx support is out of the question, i've tested a few and they can't seem to clean up the boxes in the images, plus you can't really ajust the video to fit the screen, instead of adjusting it cuts off part of the viideo that doesn't fit

  4. You could always use Sigma Designs X-card. It is efectively a dedicated TV output card. The quality is much better than any ATI or NVIDIA card. It uses the same chips you find in DVD players to output the video.

Just a SWAG here. It could be ground loops. Make sure the computer and TV are both grounded to the same point.

sounds like it could be a pal/ntsc issue.

i see that you are from asia, but asia is a very large area.. so i'm not sure whether you're using pal or ntsc.. but whatever your card is outputting, i would suggest changing it.
