subtitle software

ok i tried out the software: subtitle workshop but im having probs with the right audio that i want and the aspect ratio..does anyone know how to configure that?

also if you used another subtitle software, which one do you recommend?

I'd suggest you buy Sony DVD Architect. It's very easy to set some subs with DVDA.

Subtitle Workshop is the best freeware, but you could try Winsubtitler as it is also very useful.
You can not configure audio and video in Subtitle Workshop.

i tried subtitle workshop..the thing is, the resolution of the movie screwed up, how do i fix that? and what format should i save the files as?

I prefer DVD Architect as I had stated before. I use Subtitle Workshop only for small movies or to correct and save subs, but it definitely is a great choice.

- What do you mean, the resolution of the movie screwed up? The movie is shown only to make sure you are setting the subs in their respective places correctly. About the format: it depends...What are you going to do with those subs? What application are you going to use to author your DVD or to encode you video? Are you making hard subs or soft subs? If you are encoding your project/video as Divx or Xvid and you're trying to make soft subs, you should save as **.srt or **.txt; you computer will display both (despite the fact if you play these Divx or Xvid with compatible DVD players, only **.srt subs will be compatible because they are streams). If you are authoring a DVD and are planning to import some subs, you should read your application manual to find out how to import the subs. Sony DVD Architect 3.0a can import files ripped with Subrip.

Yeah, you should start reading some guides around here. That's a good start for sure. Then you'll need an application to author and burn your DVD. TMPGEnc DVD Author is quite good and Sony DVD Architect 3.0a is an excellent choice.

- it seems you've got a VOB file and want to author a DVD, right? If this is what you want, there are many guides around here on this subject. Please "search" and read some. You'll need a DVD authoring application that supports subtitles for auhtoring and burining your DVD. This application/program must support VOBs otherwise you'll have to de-multiplex the VOB to make an MPEG2 file + an audio file. You can do this with TMPGEnc Plus. Go to MPEG Tools, browse for the VOB file (HOPE YOUR VOB IS A SINGLE FILE), click on the video file to de-multiplex and then on the audio file for the same purpose. You'll have 2 files: the MPEG2 for the video and the AC-3 for the audio. You can rip the subs from the VOB file with Subrip that can be dowloaded for free here at VideoHelp. Go to tools and seach for Subrip. Then you have to re-author the DVD. Drop all these files into the application (video+audio+subs) prepare to a certain folder and BURN IT!
