ok i tried out the software: subtitle workshop but im having probs with the right audio that i want and the aspect ratio..does anyone know how to configure that?
also if you used another subtitle software, which one do you recommend?

I'd suggest you buy Sony DVD Architect. It's very easy to set some subs with DVDA.

Subtitle Workshop is the best freeware, but you could try Winsubtitler as it is also very useful.
You can not configure audio and video in Subtitle Workshop. -
i tried subtitle workshop..the thing is, the resolution of the movie screwed up, how do i fix that? and what format should i save the files as?

I prefer DVD Architect as I had stated before. I use Subtitle Workshop only for small movies or to correct and save subs, but it definitely is a great choice.

Yeah, you should start reading some guides around here. That's a good start for sure. Then you'll need an application to author and burn your DVD. TMPGEnc DVD Author is quite good and Sony DVD Architect 3.0a is an excellent choice.
