I just bought an ATI TV Wonder VE. I got all the updates for XP and everything appears to be working under system devices. The problem is, when I start the TV program, my system freezes. I can't find any answers on the ATI website. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I had a simular problem a while back when I upgarded my motherboard.

If you have a ALI chipset, see if you can take it the TV card back.
I tried the every brand of PCI TV tuners and even with all of the patches and upgrades it still wouldn't work.

But oddly enough it works with VIA chipsets and what really kills me is my old PII 300 laptop with a docking port and it works, granted the quality sucks, but it works.

  3. The ATI TV wonder software / drivers are notoriously bad. I can't solve your problem, but I can suggest returning it and trying a Hauppage WinTV GO, which is basically the same thing with (typically) much better drivers and software.

I am using the same board and had all sorts of problems with their software, even the latest from their Web Site. The TV part worked OK, but capture would crash my 1200MHZ Athlon.

My capture problems were solved by using IUVCR. Even though it is aimed at WIN2000, it works fine on WIN98 for me. Besides capture, you can use it to select channels and use the preview mode to view whats on.
This may help you troubleshoot your problem. You can check it out with a free download from :

I hope I inserted that link correctly

Well I hate to eat my own words but there is a solution.

First download the newest drivers from http://www.ali.com.tw/eng/support/drivers/drivers_main.htm

There web page says what does help. PCI latency of 10
