setting up BOOKTYPE with PLEXTOR 716A

hello
i do use DVD-R media and nero to burn data and dvdvideo.
there is choice to set up booktype in nero...
if i leave it automatic..it is dvd-r
should i change it to DVD-ROM BOOKTYPE for dvdvideo and for data too or just leave it like DVD-R?

what is better and why?

what for is booktype anyway?

BOOKTYPE is only for DVD+R MEDIA. DVD players that normally can only playback DVD-R media will be able to playback the DVD+R disc when it is BOOKTYPED to the DVDROM setting. In NERO BURN you don't need to change it to BOOKTYPE for DVD-R MEDIA. DVD-R is the most compatible for older standalone dvd players. Do a search on BOOKTYPE SETTING in google or on this site look at the GLOSSARY.

Within PlexTools, the booktype for DVD+R and DVD+RW can be set to DVD-ROM. This is one setting that 'stays' with the drive. Other options like PowerRec and Autostrategy change back after events like eject disc / restart computer etc. Note that from within Nero and I'm sure other programs, the PlexTools booktype setting can be overridden during a particular burn session.

Correction, it is only with DVD+R, it does not change the DVD+RW to DVD-ROM

HAMP, good catch! I meant DVD+R and DVD+R DL. Better typing and less coffee.
