  1. Hi,

Please can someone help as I am getting extremely frustrated. I have connected my Panasonic DMR-E30
to my Sony TV via Scart, I have a RF Coaxial cable connected from the Panasonic DMR-E30 to the TV
and I have an aerial connected. (ok)

I have perfomed the Auto-Setup and all channels have been found (oK)

I wish to record some TV programs onto my Panasonic DMR-E30 and therefore switch my TV to the scart channel
    of the Panasonic DMR-E30. (ok)

PROBLEM: When I switch to the Scart/AV channel on my TV, I can see the channels come through on screen and can
flip through the channels on the DVD PLayer remote (switch set to DVD). The problem is that there is no AUDIO. Just a
loud hissing sound as if the channel has not been found, but as I previously said, the picture is
    perfect.

Has the above happened to anyone else? Am I being a complete newbie and doing something very wrong??

I can get sound and audio to come through, but only if I press the INPUT SELECT BUTTON on the DVD remote. The problem
with this is that I cannot flip through the channels that are currently on the TV.

    Any help, greatly appreciated.

  2. The SCART connection is ONLY a video connection. You still need an audio cable set between each of the devices you are trying to patch thruogh. It is just like trying to play a DVD through an S-Video connection. You still need the audio cables in order to hear anything. Both (true)S-Vdieo and SCART connections are Video ONLY!

    Hope that helps.

  4. SVCDummy,

Sorry to disagree with you but SCART DOES carry audio. How else would connecting your VCR or Camcorder to your TV via SCART produce sound?

  5. Hi,

That is what I was thinking.

Scart, as opposed to S-Video, carries Video and Audio.

Any solution for my current problem?

  6. litfoo,

Sorry I don't have a DVD recorder so I can only offer theoretical help.

I can only imagine that they operate in a similar way to VCR's therefore the channel you record should be that which is coming in via the RF in (arial) and not the Scart connected to the tv.

Just a thought and sorry if I've misunderstood your problem
