  1. When i convert an avi -> svcd the audio goes out-of-sync.

When i play the avi the sound is perfect, yet when i try to convert it to svcd(film) it goes out of sync.

The strange thing is that when the first words are said in the film it is in-sync , but after a few seconds it goes out of sync.

I extracted the sound with vdub to uncompressed 44,1khz HQ sound.

Have you checked to see if you have 3:2 pulldown when playback enabled under the Video Tab next to Encode Mode using the NTSCFilm Template for SVCD It should be already there if you selected the NTSCFilm template.
