it seems pretty straight forward and all, but when i try to load a .ts file, which i've created from tsMuxer from a BD disc, an iso actually, it seems to be loading fine and displays the percentage done as it goes, etc., but when it's done media player classic home cinema pops up, displaying nothing, rather than the appropriate files being loaded into RipBot. it takes a while to get to that point too, so is frustrating.

i have avisynth loaded, although i am not sure what to do with it. that could actually be a problem, i first loaded regular avisynth 2.5, but couldn't find instructions on it, so loaded 2 different GUI's that use avisynth, maybe there are duplicate conflicting versions, not sure.

i have haali media splitter installed through Vista Codec Package, and Vista Codec x64 Components (from shark 007). the haali splitter is actually located in 32 bit, and i have gabest media splitter in 64bit, which is required to play the files in VMC.

so anyway, it runs forever and then i get the mplayerc hc which is still using much cpu power, but does nothing, it just sits there, blank, and nothing loads into ripbot.

I've been at this for two days now trying various programs, but have not had success converting BD to MKV. I've also tried megui, which i did not get at all, Xvid4PSP with which i get an error message everytime i try to load a file (External component has thrown an exception), and tried a few others i can't even remember right now. my head is spinning with all this stuff.

Any ideas why this is not working (the ripbot piece at least)?? Please help.

    thanks,
    rlr

If you look on the Ripbot website, one of the first warnings is:
If you have installed codec packs like K-Lite , CCCP , Vista Codec Packs or similar UNINSTALL THEM IMEDIATELLY!
I suspect a codec conflict may be part of your problem.

I would try AVIsynth 2.5.8, which is the latest version.

Make sure your version of haali media splitter is up to date also.

Generally, using any codec pack is not a good idea. They usually cause more problems than they solve. And they generally are not easy to remove without leaving some damage.

    And welcome to our forums.

I had read that also but i had trouble figuring out exactly what i needed. I had actually tried a couple different codec packs and am now fearing i'll have to do a reinstall to get everything working right. one of them completely wiped out my itunes library, not the songs themselves luckily they're in a different location, but all the links are gone and i'm not looking forward to rebuilding the whole thing. anyways, afaik it would just be ffdshow 32&64, plus the haali and gabest splitters, not sure what else. what other codecs do i need besides that?

does avisynth just work with other programs, or do i need to write command lines for it (without a gui program)?
i'm new to it, and don't really get it, even the gui's i tried i wasn't sure what to do with or how they worked with these other programs.

    thanks,

I just followed Baldrick's guide: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic358185.html He lists all the required tools there.

Avisynth is used by the program, so you just install it and Ripbot will find and use it. It's a command line program, so used by itself it can be a bit daunting. You can go to this website for guides: http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/Main_Page

The most common problem with codec packs is they may overwrite or destroy your existing codecs. And they often don't uninstall cleanly. ffdshow isn't a codec pack and will let you play back quite a few formats. And it is unlikely to cause any damage.

The only other codecs I usually install are Xvid and Divx. And sometimes Quicktime and Real codecs. If I need others, I just install the individual codecs as needed and stay away from all codec packs.

alright, i have downloaded all the codecs and filters, and new avisynth

i couldn't find avisynth in programs and features, but previously installed it so know it's there. how do i uninstall older versions? also the gui-avisynth apps that i installed, do they also contain the avisynth program? i fear i have multiple instances running.

ffdshow has ac3 filter right, so i don't have to install that seperately?

    thanks again for your help,

so, i uninstalled the codec packs i had and installed the individual codecs i need, pretty sure anyways, and then tried again with ripbot to convert a .ts file (BD movie), still have same prob though, it doesn't load into the ripbot main screen, when it's done analyzing the file it opens up mcenterc hc, and then it just sits there saying "opening" but nothing happens.

isn't it supposed to just load into ripbot?? i don't remember the guide saying anything about mcenter opening.
does anyone know what is going on with this?? i've been at it for like 3 days straight, trying to convert my BD iso's. other options i've tried like xvid4psp don't work either, i get an error everytime i try to open a file with it.

    thanks,

    update-
sorry for the multiple posts, just very frustrated.

since mplayerc hc kept opening instead of the files being loaded into program, i tried removing it from tools to see what would happen. it says analyzing files, like before, and takes a while, but then this time instead of mpc opening, i get nothing, once it's done analyzing it goes blank, as if i never opened a file. i wonder where all this is going, prob clogging up my temp file. people have said what an easy program this is to use, but it is not happening for me.

    any more thoughts?

    thx,

  8. It sounds like you are having issues with your system and/or codecs

Disable UAC and run as administrator on Vista - the reason is it tries to write to the root directory and the OS doesn't give permission so the program hangs.

Can you play the .mts in plain MPC (not thru ripbot)?

If your file is VC-1 you have to enable VC-1 in the ffdshow configuration, or download WMP11 to get the WMVideo DMO decoder

Most blu-rays are AVC(H.264), some are VC-1, and a tiny few are MPEG2; you need the proper decoder for each, otherwise it will hang. ffdshow is a good choice because it has all 3 and is free, you just have to enable the proper one(s) in the configuration. Use mediainfo to determine the specifics of your input file.

Also did you rip with anydvd?

i've been running without uac all along, and i'm pretty sure i tried it with running as admin, i'll have to double check though, i've been dicking around with a bunch of different apps.
used any dvd hd to rip everything
I do have VC-1 enabled in both 32 and 64 bit ffdshow (although there are more options in the 64 bit one, i may try to get a different ffdshow for 32bit)
.ts file plays in 64bit mplayerc hc fine (except that the movie is a bit shrunk), it does not however play in 32bit mcenterc, only sound comes out.
is it odd though that mplayerc opens up when it's done analyzing, is it supposed to do that? that's where it hangs.

i checked out the particular movie i've been working on (casino royale) with mediainfo, it is avc video, which is enabled in both 32&64bit ffdshows, however the video only plays on the 64bit version of mplayer classic. that's weird....

i'm wondering if the fact that i installed, at different times, different codec packages, if i have issues with the registry or something else. if i can't get it working soon, i'm just going to reinstall windows, and start fresh just loading the individual codecs.

    thanks very much

now i can get a file to load finally, i used an m2ts file, and made a .mkv. i turned off the x264 codec in 32bit ffdshow, and added a single codec to replace it. x264.exe stopped working during the conversion which i let run after i went to sleep, and the resulting video was just a short clip. i don't know why it would take 3.5 hours just to make a clip, idk maybe it didn't run that long when the codec stopped working.

also, when i preview avisynth script mplayerc comes up and plays but the audio is out of sync, and the picture freezes for a second, every few seconds.

    thx,
