  1. One of the recent posts (regarding Blade II) talks about remuxing the m2v into the vobs so you can keep the original everything else (menu mainly). That was going to be one of my upcoming posts...it just hasn't happened to me yet. But might with my copy of Pearl Harbor that I have yet to even watch. If I want to transcode the movie so it fits on a DVD+R but keep all sound, menus, extras, etc., can I do that? Is there a tutorial for how to extract only the main title, transcode it and then stick it back in? Thanks a lot.

    Scott.

Instead of remux, author the transcoded file and sound file to a folder on your drive. Replace just the original vobs with these new ones. Use ifoupdate to sort out the ifo files. Full guide somewhere on doom.

  4. I have only had to transcode once so far, and it was either ReMPEG or TMPEG. I have my next batch of movies to do this week: Gladiator, Holy Grail, Something About Mary (might only be DVD-5). Does using one of the three mentioned do it differently? When I did O11, it took 41 hours to transcode on my P3 550, 512 RAM. Yikes!

The trouble with leaving in the extras is that you may end up with a video bitrate that is so low it will affect the picture quality to an unacceptable level.
When you remux back the video stream, use ifoedit 0.6, the newer version 0.932 can result in movies that pause every 10 sec or so.

I did Holy Grail the other day, it only needed to be ripped & burned with Nero.

  7. Another, seemingly easier way than the previous post, also on doom9:

    http://doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/ifoedit-basic.htm

However, I attempted this method without success so far, using CCE to transcode. Everything up to the transcode step worked fine. I am trying again with a rempeg2 transcoded file...

    Bring on the flames!
