I have tried to use Vidrop to convert a dvd to avi for a rockbox chipped player (320x240) mp2, 22 fps using one of the presets for these players. The result is a avi that will claim to be 900 plus hours long and when it is played in wmp it shows a whirlwind hash of scenes from the dvd each scene just a few frames long. in about a minute the movie ends with an instant flash of the credits and the audio continues on with the correct speed. I have had this same problem with other transcoders, is this a codec problem? A memcoder problem?

any ideas would be most welcome!

I think you mean Rockchip player ... It matters which chip it actually is. If it's 320x240, it's probably a 2608, which should work with the Rockchip preset. However, if you have fiddled with the settings, you might have upset something, as some settings will survive selection of a preset.

If you can't get anywhere, you could uninstall/delete viDrop and install it again. Select the Rockchip preset but don't change anything else but the bitrate.

Of course, it may be that whatever you are using to decrypt the DVD is not doing the job. If you use Slysoft Anydvd, which I would definitely recommend, then you might need to update it, as Big Content is always finding new ways to corrupt the DVD standard to defeat copying. They have those macrovision slimebags working for them for just that. Slysoft release new versions almost on a weekly basis because of this.
