  1. I've just got hold of Harry Potter 2 on divx format. I'm not new to dvd-r/vcd copying etc but am new to Divx. I'm trying to get the 2 cd-r's converted to go onto dvd-r. I've succesfully converted the pics to .m2v & got the sound off in .wav format then re-encoded to .ac3. Problem is I've not been able to do any of it in one go without splitting sound/video - Using TMPGenc, every setting I try comes out silent. Am I missing a codec perhaps-I've installed latest divx ones. When I use Spruce Up to put them back together the sound is running out of sync. I've got an excellent pic & sound but out of sync. Do I have to set the wav file to the length of video manually then re-encode to ac3? When using virtualdub to extract the sound I got a message saying something about odd encoding (cant remember exactly) I think it said there would be skew?? Whats that all about & is that whats caused the problem?

  2. If you get such a message when opening a video in VDub, always extract the complete audio stream to an uncompressed WAV/PCM file first (set No Compression under Audio/Compression and stereo,16bit,high quality under Audio/Conversion). That should remove any inserted skew.

  3. Thanks for that. I dont remember changing any settings when I extracted it. When I listened to the playback afterwards it sounded ok- so I assumed it to be alright. I never thought about sync untill it happened. I'll retry it making sure the settings are as you suggested.
