I have an ADC Tech DVD Xpress capture device that I can use to capture MPEG2 video. Since this devices captures the video and audio all in hardware, the resulting MPEG2 file plays fine with perfect audio and video sync.

However when I try to convert these to Divx the resulting Divx file often has audio sync problems. Sometimes it seems worse than other times (meaning the audio might drift after 30mins on one video and around 1 hour on another video).

I've tried the Divx Converter that comes with Divx, and Virtualdub. The results seem to be the same, so I suspect a problem with the MPEG2 streams from the ADS Tech software.

Does anyone have an ideal how I can fix the MPEG2 files before processing to Divx?

    thanks,

    Kevin

  2. You can try videoredo, it has a "quickstream fix" option which works well in my experience

Another free option is to use PVAStrumento which can fix some errors

Can you see the desychronization point? Often when you capture, you might get an error point or discontinunity that causes desynchronization when re-encoding. If so, another option is to cut out the "bad" segment
