I am looking for a freeware software for correcting the brightness (and contrast) of my MPG-movies. Is there any?

well you would have to re-encode them , is this what you want ?
if so you could run through tmpgenc or (dvd2avi -> v-dub -> mpeg encoder) .. -
I am already using TMPGENC for making the MPG-file, but what I mean is that I would like to correct the brightness of the movies. Some are way too dark and I would like to add some brightness and contrast to those.
Is there any freeware software to handle my needs? -
yea well -- as i said -> you have to re-encode them to do it and tmpgenc can do it .. why dont you fix it the first time around ?
most people don't have thier contrast and brightness set correctly anyway on a pc or on thier tv ... -
you can easily corect the brightness and contrast of your movie in TMPGE in "simple color correction" under the advanced tab
