  4. Ok ive sussed joining them together thanks to this bit of info I found on the web :-

So you want to make one big avi so you dont have to keep
2 parts huh? many people do this so they can hook up
    thier computer to this T.V.
This help file should instruct you threw it.

But you should know its easier to make a SVCD with NERO rom Burner
and play it on your TVs DVD player.

Just keep in mind that the quality of an avi will very, based
    on the following:
    1. your processor
    2. the quality of the avi when it was made.
    and
    3. how good you are at this.

    Okay, here we go.

    you will need Virtualdub 1.4.10.
    go to:

    http://www.virtualdub.org/index

    Lets start.
    PART ONE.
    Run VD.
Click on file, open video file.
Select part 1 of the movie.
click on VIDEO and highlight direct stream copy
Click on AUDIO, should be on avi.
    Select VIDEO again.
Click on SELECT RANGE and set START OFFSET RANGE at 15 frames.
    Click OK.
Click on FILE, FILE INFORMATION. Make sure its the right info
    on the one you want.
    part one complete.

    Part TWO.
Click on file, APPEND AVI SEGMANT.
then click on the PART 2 of the movie.
There should be a blue line across the bottom of VD.
    Click on Video.
make sure its still on DIRSCT STREAM COPY and the select
    range is still 15 frames.
    Done.

    PART THREE
Click on FILE,SAVE OLD FORMAT AVI or save as avi.
It will show the name of the last file you clicked on.
RENAME This NOW or you will LOSE the second part.
    I.E. - [tmd]dog.soldiers.cam.(2of2).avi
    TO - [tmd]dog.soldiers.cam.full.avi
    Hit save.

Virtual Dub stats pop up and it does the rest!

    CONGRATS!
You just mmade a complete movie!

    One last thing.
You always should check the last couple frames of part
one to make sure it is in sync with part 2.
if it isnt, you will need to delete some frames with VD.

It took very little time to join them together, just have to see what its like encoding 1 big AVI into MPEG2 now, hopefully keeping the audio in sync , fingers crossed on that 1.
