    Hi, I'm using avitools to join avi files together; will there be a loss in quality of the resulting video or audio file? does avitools recompress the avi to merge them together or just join them together at the file level? thanks

    AVItools requires 10.6, so I can't test it at the moment, but...

    if the operation is fast, then there was no re-encoding, and thus no quality loss.

    Obviously this requires that the source files have the same properties.
