  1. I already reduce to 3500Kbps to burn my 1:54 DVD dics (120min per DVD) but finally it also asks me to insert another blank dics. I wonder if because I checked "Perform writing test bedore recording" and then the result like that.
I choose audio "LPCM" for NTSC format.
Someone showed me their ways but it fails.

Has anyone had idea to help me now (just for 1dics)? Thanks a lot in advance.

  2. LPCM audio is huge and is probably the reason you cant fit nearly 2 hours on your DVD. Use mp2 audio and it should fit. It should also play fine in most (if not all) DVD players.

Actually, it's MPEG 1 - LAYER II audio, and use .MPA as the extention for NTSC disks. MPA audio is part of the audio specs for DVD for NTSC. MPEG 2 audio is only part of the PAL DVD spec. AC3 quickly surpassed the MP2 audio because of compatibility between NTSC and PAL disks (ie, the need for studios to produce both audio formats).

It's usually not a good idea to use LPCM in any audio stream on a DVD, especially if you want to put 2 hours of quality video on a disk. Two hours of LPCM audio is about 1.5GB in size. A good encode of either MPA or AC3 will reduce the audio size by a factor of 7 or more.

By the way, what the heck is a 1:54 DVD?

Sorry if I appear thick, but whats the difference between "MPEG 1 - LAYER II audio" and "MPEG 2 audio"?

    I assumed this meant 1hr 54 minutes

Difference? I guess that it is the encoding scheme. I have heard that MPEG 2 audio algo is very close to AC3's perceptual encoding scheme. I have observed that the resulting file sizes are approximately the same (MPA vs AC3). MPG1-L2 was around when the NTSC DVD spec was written (and MPG2 audio was still being developed), which is why it made the cut, but MPG2 did not.

  6. Yes, 1:54 means 1hr 54 minutes. Now I'll choose MPEG audio and try again.
Thanks a lot for your help.
