Right i know this comes up more than once but i just wanna see how you people go about it and your opinion.
Now with a 1.85: ws movie when encoding i set the source to 16.9 keep aspect ratio, then u get a small black line top and bottom, this way u get the correct ratio.
But with 2.35:1 i was think of setting the source ratio to 4.3,(i know what people r thinking wrong ratio),but when u set a 2.35:1 movie to 16.9 the black bars double in size taking up at least 50 - 60% of the screen only giving you 40 - 50% of the screen is the movie.Even on a ws tv.(this is the way ripping groups do it i.e tcf,RFtA,FLiX ..etc...)But this annoys me,i cant sit there and watch a movie on my ws tv and only see 40 - 50 % of the movie.
So what do u people think, your opinions, what you do ???

If you don't mind having the picture look distorted and stretched you can set the aspect ratio to anything convenient. Yes, 2.35:1 movies appear as a narrow ribbon across the middle of your TV, which is a little irritating. But at least people's heads are the right shape.

I do see what your saying, but i done a quick little test.A 2.35:1 movie with the source set to 4.3 so that it had standard black bars at top and bottom, but when i played it back on my ws tv the picture didnt look streched to my eyes.

I am confused by all the ratio's and this kinda helped..
Dont know if it applies for ripping cd's though, but give it a look..
