  1. I was looking into trying something new with my videos. However I just wanted to know what people thought of it before I went and wasted my time.

    I thought that since this is a video forum you guys would be the best to ask. Please make your comments helpful (no flaming).

    So here it goes tell me what you guys think by either voting or posting your comment for me here.

    I personally couldn't care less about skins. Waste of effort, HDD space, bandwidth (the list goes on)...

    It's probably not a good idea to have our first post be spam for your Youtube-esque videos.

    Also, you are starting off with quite a bit of "not so good"

    1. Horrible subject title: People won't know exactly what you're asking.
    2. Even more vague post: What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Again, seems simply like spam.
    3. Telling the board members what to do: There is a set of rules that we follow here, so posting "No/Don't (whatever)" is actually inviting trouble.

    Whenever possible I point mplayer at the URL of an online video, and watch it
    fullscreen, with no visible controls at all. So I'm indifferent to whatever clutter
    surrounds it on the web page. Let me watch it my way, and I'm happy.

    I vist youtube quite a bit. I like a variety of video's from tutorials, someone's crazy pet, to their own version of a music vid etc. So for me, the decision to click or not is made on the title and description and to a lesser extent, the video icon. (sometimes the video icon will catch my eye) Once I've clicked, I don't care what kind of skin is present. Also, once I've watched the video, I rate or comment or not based entirely on the content. Hope this helps.

    I actually have Firefox extensions that hide most of a Youtube page. I have another one that completely strips media from a myspace page.

    Those sites represent a backwards step in web content/design.

  9. Thanks for all the responses except for Supreme2k. Not sure what he was implying since there is not anything even resembling a sales like link there. I could of threw anything in there. I was not asking for anybody to watch the video just give their opinion on the whole skin idea. Sorry had to rant.

    Thanks everybody for their insight on the subject however. I guess this may not be something worth really perusing. Thanks everybody for their help. You guys rock!

    I looked and thought, "but both videos are identical? Some bloke poorly shot from a stupid angle talking at me" Then I realised you were talking about the frame around the second one. Why bother? The video is important, not the crap on the screen.

    I would worry a lot more a using a good camera that some weird skin. My actual impression is that this post is really spam for your game copying guide.

    My honest opinions Here they go

    1) I agree with mats: carnivalish skins are bad, and get
    even worse when embedded in a web page;

    2) "talking-head" videos can be done in much better ways;

    3) I do not care about PS games unless they can be played
    on an arcade cabinet with the divine help from HD Loader :P

    Spam doesn't have to be monetary. It can be about hits, popularity, etc.
