I would like some opinions. Thank you in advance. I like to record football games. I use the Hauppauge 150 and capture games in the dvd template(mpeg-2 720x480 @6000 kbps). That usually yields about a 10 gig file. I sometimes use mpeg-vcr to edit commercials and use TMPGenc dvd author 2.0 to make dvds. I use TMPGenc dvd author's editing /cutting tool alot also. Then i usually use TMPGenc dvd burning program to make a dvd-9 disc. I rarely have to transcode because after i cut commercials it gets below 8.4 gigs. I would like some opinions on this process because I have to admit that im not overly impressed with the results. The dvds are decent quality but not like the original broadcast.

How are you connecting the TV signal to the capture card?

If your cable box has other connectivity options, try them. Coax is probably the worst.
