I have the DRU-500A with the 1.0d firmware which is supposed to "improve read and write speed on DRU-500A."
An early review showed slow read speeds on non-pressed DVDs. I figured the 1.0d would increase those, but it doesn't appear to be any faster. I can only read DVD+RW's at 2.55 but the drive is capable of 8X speed.
Is this normal? I don't have any other types (DVD-R,-RW,+R) current. What speed do they read at under the 1.0d firmware?
Update: For reference my regular DVD-Rom drive can read DVD+RW discs and 6X.
