  1. SO I need your help to get better quality

    My computer:
    PIII 800MHZ
    128 MB Ram
    20 + 40 GB Harddrive
    ATI 128 Rage Pro Graphics
    Pinnacle PCTV Pro TV Card.

I use PCTV Vision to capture musicvideos from MTV. I have the quality on "BEST". I have a good picture before capturing. After I capture a video I use Virtual DUB to compress it to DivX (codec: Divx 3,11 alpha). I use some filters: Dynamic Noise reduction to reduce the noise in the image and Smart Smoother filter to get the video smoother (If I not use this filters it looks even worse). I usually use the Low Motion codec at least 800 kpbs.

I uploaded a little clip, it's about 1,64 MB in filesize, no sound. I can't get my videos better than this.
The file is uploaded to cybamall, and you'll have to rename the extension from .gif to .avi. (Play in fullscreen)

    Please help me!

    Thanks for your time!

  3. I have the same pctv card. I am now using virtual dub to do my captures. I spent considerable time encoding my favorite buffy episode from vhs tape to svcd format and tried many methods and programs. I discovered that the captured video fields were swapped and frames were telecined. Using the telecide filter during encoding resulted in a * dramatic * improvement in quality and I do captures with the swapfield filter now. This thread was very helpfull to me:

My basic steps are 1) capture with virtual dub using fieldswap filter and huffy codec. 2) frameserve the
capture to tmpgenc and use the **telecide virtual dub filter***. 3) use the tmpgenc noise filter and soften block noise.
So far, this method has resulted in the best mpeg files for me.
The telecide filter plugin can be found here:

  4. Thanks for the reply.
But capturing with Virtual Dub don't work for me.
I get no sound... I can hear the sound very low before/when capturing. But at the captured video there's no sound.
