Hi folks, I searched the forums and couldn't find a post quite like this so I hope I'm not going to be asking the same old questions.
I'd like to think I'm fairly knowledgable when it comes to video editing, but I've only just started to burn VCD's. I've made movies to put on VHS and I've burned DVD's no problem, but I'm having some trouble with VCD's. Like my subject says, I'm using Ulead Media Studio Pro, when I convert the AVI to MPEG they appear to be fine. But once I've put them on to CD they look pretty bad, blocky, when watching the videos on TV. Is this a problem with Ulead where the blockiness was always there but just not as noticable on the computer screen. Or could it be a problem when the VCD is created, using Ulead DVD Workshop?

If you got ms6.5 you should not download the service pack. MS6.5 without the service pack has a decent ligos encoder. Otherwise it may be a field order problem or you may be expecting too much from a vcd. Try tmpgenc and maybe it will be better.

Thanks for the reply, I'll have to check on the service pack, not sure if I got it or not. I don't think I'm expecting too much from VCD's, because I have other CD's that I've bought that has quality I'm thrilled with. I was hoping I could get close to the same level of quality is all. I'm not looking for DVD levels of quality.
I'm probably going to have to encode with TMPGenc, I've made some test conversions in that program and they look a lot better than what Ulead did. was hoping someone might have a solution where I wouldn't have to go capture and encode 3-4 hours worth of video all over again.
