  1. Hi all,

Probably been posted before but I decided to build myself my own procedure based on the good info others have posted.
I don't know all the technicalities, and there may in-fact be a simpler method, but it works for me and is playable on PC or set-top player.

How to create DVD-R/RW from VOB

    1. Insert your DVD into the drive.

    2. Make a dir called VIDEO_TS and run Decryptor. Point it towards the dir and rip the DVD.

    3. Start IFOEDIT, and press the button [Create IFO].

    4. You will be asked which VOB file you want to create VIDEO_TS.IFO, in this case navigate to the 1st VOB file of the set you just ripped. IFOEDIT will now scan and collects the IFO information and then will create 2 files VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO

    5. Now close down IFOEDIT without saving.

    6. Start IFOEDIT and open VIDEO_TS.IFO and click on [GET VTS SECTOR] and follow the suggestion until finish repeat this step with all IFO files in this directory. Close down IFOEDIT and again without saving.

Now burn the files to DVD-R/RW using Nero, you must use the DVD-UDF/ISO and uncheck the Joliet option i.e. the last option on the wizard.
Burn to a dir called VIDEO_TS, you may want to create another folder AUDIO_TS although, this is not necessary.

How to split a dual layer DVD title to two separate single layer DVD-R/RW from VOB

    7. Continuing on from above (steps 1 to 6 above – without the burn!). Prepare two empty directories and name them DVD1 and DVD2. Within each of these directories, create a directory called 'VIDEO_TS'.

    8. Start IFOEDIT and load the IFO of the main movie, i.e VTS_01_0.IFO.

    9. Press the button [VOB Extras] . A dialog box will appear, allowing you to select what processes you want to do. The standard options are already selected for you.
Select the [Strip Streams] option also. DO not select [Strip VOB ID’s].

    10. Down at the bottom, select the DVD1 and DVD2 directories you created.
    Press the [OK] button.

    11. A dialog box will be displayed containing the chapters. Pick a single chapter somewhere in the middle of the table, press [Split It].

    12. Another dialog box will be displayed containing the Audio Info. The two default selections are ok, press the [Strip It] button.

Now burn the files to DVD-R/RW using Nero, you must use the DVD-UDF/ISO and uncheck the Joliet option i.e. the last option on the wizard.
There will 2 separate DVD rips, treat them as two separate movies.

  2. yes this has been discussed before but anyways.. just to comment on the first part of ur "How to"..
Decryptor automatically creates the VIDEO_TS folder inside the name of the DVD movie(did i say it right?) i.e. x:\<Movie name>\VIDEO_TS
Second i think creating the AUDIO_TS folder is important as it is part of the standards when creating a compliant DVD..
