    Kitty if you have a good internet connection there is a vob file for a dolby surround beginning.

    I have 56k so can't download it.

    I found it on google, do a search.

  8. Have a look at the Dolby tech documents. I think that they tell you generally how it is done...

    L , R, C, S

    L = L + 0.7*(C + S)
    R = R + 0.7*(C - S)

    From memory, the C and S audio is reduced by 3 dB and there is a high pass filter placed on them (?? kHz) and they are subjected to some form of Dolby NR (?? but I don't remember if the NR is on decoding or encoding as well).

    An alternative is to use SoftEncode to actually create an AC3 or DTS audio (with 5.1 channels) and then use one of the rippers/downmixers to create your Dolby Surround audio.

    Regards.

    Isn't besweet meant to encode ac3 audio? I know there is at least one or two other free ac3 encoders out there.

  10. I have a AC3 Encoder, actually 2. One independent and the other part of scenartist. Basically they both work the same way, you make 6 mono wav files, one for left-front, center, right-front, the two back channels, and a LFE (low frequency effects) channel. It merges these files into a nice ac3 file which you can multiplex with lots of different file types. If you're planning to make an intro on a dvd you're going to have problems. First is getting the encoder (look on WinMX or get scenartist), which is not too hard if you get an standalone encoder. But to make a dvd that has 6 channels or in other words to author a dvd with Dolby Digital you'll have to find dvd authoring software that will let you do such. Most will take your nicely created ac3 file and downmix it to 2 stereo channels. I recomend scenartist although you'll have to spend lots of time reading and figuring out how to use it. I have used its ac3 encoder and authoring to make a complete rip of fight club with the original dolby digital track. I have also used it to take the dolby digital aurora movie which was coded and stereo and remixed it into dolby digital sound. For your use look into getting a program like I described. It is very easy to work with 6 independent wav files which then get encoded together. Good luck on you project. I would like to see a file cut when you're done. Email me if you'd like a copy of any ac3 work I've done.

    Peace,
    Mike G.

    Sheese..Has it been that long since DOS that people forget how they work? AudioCutter Cinema is probably a DOS based program. Open up a dos window and try running it. You'll probably get a list of necessary switches to be used with the program, or optionally, type in the EXE name with a '/?' after it (sans the '' marks ).

    example:

    audiocutter.exe /?

    Just keep in mind I have no idea what the actual filename if the EXE is. The above is just an example...
