For those who are successful burning a DVD-R, can you choose your audio selection during playback?? I am planning to do DVD Karaoke....so this is highly important to me....Thanks

Yes..If your final vobs contain more than one audio track and you have authored it properally then you should be able to choose the diff audio streams while it is playing..NOTE:- Some Original DVDs let you change the audio stream while it is playing and some dont (you have to go back to the Main menu/audio setup)
