am dividing a file dvdrip divx. Usually have no problem. I can extract the audio save the wav and the avi of part #2. The first have gives me an error "audio stream source error" Any suggestion? Also, why can I do what I need to do with the 2nd half and not the 1st.

Why are you splitting the file anyway??? If you just want to cut it in two... use VirtualDUb or IFilmEdit. Ifyr making a VCD I always do this:
Use Virtual DUb and extract the ENTIRE Audio and Video tracks first Direct Stream Copy mode), then use TMPGenc to re-encode either as one file then split using its Mpeg Tools option, or select the Source range first and tag each half at a time.
