  1. I always use a CBR of 2400 with cce 2.5. Buth I want to do a VBR for once(want to get a movie on two discs instead of 3). Does anyone have some suggestions for the best quality wit the min., maximum and average bitrate??? My dvd-player only handles SVCD with 2600 k/bs inlcuding audio(yes, it's a pioneer 343)

  2. try
    max 2530
    min 300
    max averag 2350
    uncheck min average

if oyu want to save time try 1 pass vbr but u may get some size umpredictably.

also set image quality priority and Q factor 5.

i used to use 4 pass vbr which gives awesome rips but takes up a lot time, using these settings i save a lot of time and still get really good quality

  3. So a 3 pass....and what about audio?? If I use a max of 2530 i've only got 70 kb left for it.....and is a peak of 200 kb enough??

The max SVCD standard allows for 2748KB/s. Pimp is right. Just use 224KB/s, and you'll be fine.

    2524 Video + 224 Audio = 2748 KB/s

as far as what settings to use, try the bitrate calculator on this site to find your average and maximum bitrates, and use something like 600 for minimum--everybody has their own thoughts on minimum bitrate--I've personally done encodes with 0 minimum bitrate, and not had a problem, so this value seems to be pretty arbitrary
what are you askin' me for...
    I'm an idiot!
