Greetings,
When doing conversions to AVI using XMPEG, XViD codec or DivX, some movies (not all) show with a distortion in the video.
The converted AVI files look as if the video was segmented diagonally in 3 or 4 sections with some overlap occuring at the edges of the diagonal lines. Also, there are about 3 or 4 edge diagonal lines runing through the image corresponding to the edge overlap.
The codec used under XMPEG doesn't seem to make any difference.
I'm able to convert the files using DVD2AVI with the XViD codec, however the image isn't as clear as with using XMPEG. Using DVD2AVI, some interlacing seems to come through but it doesn't appear to be constant through out the movie. Seems to come and go. No filters were experimented with yet.
Lately, it seems XMPEG gives errors and closes. I first encountered this using a 2.23 GHz P4 system, whereas it still seemed to work on a P3 1 GHz system.
Any similar experiences?
