Try latest virtualdub with the last flv plugin. Or try avidemux.

There was one video I converted to DVD with ConvertXtoDVD that turned out much like this, only worse. It had played fine in one of my "go to" players, like VLC. Still not sure what the problem was. Latest codecs ?

  4. The video decoder thinks the frame is a pixel or two wider or narrower than the encoder that encoded it. Things like this typically happen when the video an odd (as in "odd vs even") or a mod2 frame width. It can usually be solved by using a different decoder. Sometimes by patching the header of the video file.

    Thanx for that info.
In the case of CX2D, I guess I'm stuck with whatever decoders that version happens to have ?
Can you give examples of changing what to what in the video file header ? If this was just a matter of using a hex editor to change something, I could try that. Will see if I can i.d. a header from that particular file.

Turns out there was no need: I ran it through AVS2DVD instead (always good to have alternate program options !), and it came out just fine. And sometimes it goes exactly the other way, with these or as regards other programs that occupy much the same category.
