is there a way to dramatically decrease the size of the video being captured? is the only option to decrease the quality?

If you capture in .avi, why not use a compression (codec) like DivX? Or if your card supports it, why not capture in one of the MPEG formats?
Hello. -
But the codecs above will decrease the quality. HUFFYUV is a lossless codec (smaller filesize, no loss in quality) but it still creates big files.
With only 8 gigs, you need to take Tommyknocker's advice and capture direct to Divx or MPEG. If you're serious about capturing though then you need to invest in a new/second drive. -
thanks for the help. i was using huffyuv and yes the size is still big.
btw. i already upgraded my hdds. -
Thanks for updating the profile. With the amount of disk space you've now got I can't forsee any problems in capturing in either HUFFYUV or Pegasus MJPEG.
(That is unless your harddrives are full of suspect material)
