Hi
I have had this card a week. I may not be the best person to advise but this may help. The software that comes with it captures mpeg1/2. I transfered to PowerVCR to do my capturing as it has lots of different profiles (VCD. SVCD etc) and this produces good quality MPEG 1/2. I then encode using TMPEnc and get good results. I have tried capturing AVI with VirtualDub and IUVcr and it does capture OK. Strangely tho the MPegs I do using PowerVCR have a much smoother picture. Hope this helps but as I do not know why u want to capture AVI it may not
Cheers

Well I have had that card for about 6 months now It does 640x480 Mpeg 2 fine with it's own software but for some reason I can not select 640*480 in Virtual Dub with Windows XP

takaznik, mate youve got a geforce2 card and obviously ure agp slot is used!
So the best card available believe me Is the All in wonder Radeon 32Mb Sdram PCI version. Its the best combination you can have with ure Geforce card. It does all the res olutions u'll want. BUt, only problem is ATI stopped now making them since The new radeon cards came out, these new cards are all agp though.
So go for it if u can find one available!!!! -
the thing is i dont have an AGP slot my mobo sucks... im also trying to stay away from ati... but if i can find a radeon AIW pci i might get it... time to check ebay...

I would recommend you getting the Hauppauge PVR 250, I have this card and does all the capture settings right up to dvd quality. I have had no problems with this card and would highly recommend anyone to get this card as its quality and easy of use is remarkable.

Not sure why people are recommending the PVR250 when your requirement is avi capture at 640x480. The avertv studio will do that just fine. In fact if you don't need the remote control or the FM tuner the avertv stereo will do fine too and it's only $50.
