  1. I have the problem of TMPEnc not supporting my MPEG-2 capture files, so after researching this site and many of the forums, I downloaded and tried to install the Nimo codec Pack. For some reason, it is not installing any MPEG-2 codecs.

After installing, I look in Control Panel -> Multimedia -> Devices -> Video Compression Devices, and nothing is there relating to MPEG-2, even though I selected it in the Nimo install routine.

    What am I doing wrong.

I also tried the Elecard MPEG decoder and it is never installed either.

Am I looking in the wrong place? If the TMPGEnc free version works fine for me, then I have no problem paying the $50 for the real version, but I want the trial to work first before I pay for it.

Ok, Nimo does provide Mpeg 2 for older versions, 2.55 I think, but if you use TMPGEnc Plus 2.57, then those codec's are no use, instead you will need to install Power DVD 4, that is 1 of 3 codec's that will work with the new version.

    Use an older Free TMPGEnc

  4. The Nimo version is the latest, version 5 build 7 I think.

I'll see if I can find an earlier version of TMGPEnc and try it.

Sometimes you have to remove one for the other to work, if you intend using the Free TMPGENc 2.55 then Nimo is just fine ( for 30 days ), but if you move on to TMPGENc Plus, you need to remove other Mpeg 2 codecs before you install Power DVD

  6. I would remove them if they existed. I think this is the problem. When I install Nimo, no MPEG-2 codecs are installed. I've tried this at least 5 times, but no MPEG-2 codecs ever appear in my Control Panel.
