  1. i get up an error when i follow the guide on this page.
i´m trying to extract the audio from a .avi file.
    the message is

"The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format.
check that the sampling rate and the channel count of the input match those of requested format."

i´ve done this before but this´s the first time that this happens to me

If you have Gold Wave, why not just load the .avi file into it? Then save it as the .wav file you need?

  4. The AVI probably has AC3 audio, so select Audio/Direct Stream Copy and then File/Save as WAV. Rename the extension to AC3 and use Headac3e to convert it to 44.1khz WAV or MP2

    Try Nandub

    available at http://www.doom9.org/software2.htm

It was originally a hacked virtualdub for advanced divx3.11a encoding but the best thing about it is (IMHO) that it handles 'non-std' audio i.e. ac3, vbr mp3, mp3 with no wav header etc....

Use it just like VirtualDub for avi files with non standard audio.

  7. you have to install the virtualdub with support for AC3 avi.file
    from divx digest

  8. Nope, the regular version of virtualdub will extract the AC3 just fine, it just sticks a WAV extension on the end, which you would have to change to AC3...
