I'm not sure if this will help anyone but here goes! Like many of you I searched for the way to make the highest quality video captures possible. Well, I finally purchased a Panasonic EM-20 DVD Video Recorder and WOW! Quality cannot be beat! I realize this is a fairly expensive item to use as a capture tool, but if quality is your top priority then give it a thought.

I've been looking at these. A couple of questions:
1. Does it have a firewire port to connect with your computer or digital camcorder?
2. Does the unit have any editing of its own to cut commercials?
3. Can the discs it makes be read by a PC?
4. Can discs burned by a PC be read by it?
