  1. Converted an avi file to mpeg using TMPGEnc, but when I try to burn it as a VCD, Nero tells me it's not a valid VCD format, and asks if I want to re-encode it !! this then takes ages (60 min mpeg, takes over 2 hours for nero to encode, this is after TMPGEnc has already took forever !)

    Help please what am I doing wrong, or should I ignore Nero's warning's and burn anyway ?

  2. The first warning sign is that nero is telling you the the TMPGENC encode is out of VCD compliance. 99.9% of the time, VCD encoding MUST be 1150 bit rate, resolution 352x240(NTSC) and audio of ??? (cant remember off the top of my head.

    What noncompliance error is nero giving you????

    If you ramp it up to SVCD or CVD format, as long as you keep the res in the 480x 480 / 352 x 480(NTSC) realm and 41'ish mhz, you "should" be able to play the final burn from nero on your DVD player (some support this some dont, my apex 1100w does).

    When you used TMPGEnc, you suppose to click the "load" button and load a VCD template. This then sets up TMPGEnc to make a fully compliant VCD. If your using NTSC the compliancy must be;

    Video-CD NTSC (MPEG-1 352x240 29.97fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)

    The output will then load into Nero without problems. If you let Nero do the convertion, it will probably mess it up
