Mpeg1 files play fine in WMP6.4 (or 7, but 6.4 is the better player) if I play the whole file, but if I skip around (forward or backwards) the sound gets choppy and staticy, and sometimes it plays in fast motion for a few seconds... The ATI player has the same problem, but windvd can skip ok. Windvd, however, has a brightly colored 1 pixel border when playing mpeg1s (but let's leave that one alone for now).
I know some people have had problems with win2k and vcds, but they work fine for me. In fact, everything used to work fine, and I don't remember when it stopped working. No, I don't want to reinstall windows; this looks like a software problem so it would probably happen again. I think this is all related to the ligos decoders included with an older version of windvd. Sometimes the a/v was REALLY out of synch, and in the properties I found out the video was decoded by ligos... but by checking the option to only play mpeg2 video with ligos it went back to "normal".
Ligos is still acting as the audio decoder for normal mpeg1s. I don't remember what it was when I first installed windows but since mpeg1/2 isn't codec based I can't reinstall it. I've reinstalled wmp7 (can't reinstall 6.4 on win2k) and the windows media codec, and I've installed windvd4, but I'm not seeing improvement.

Basically, does anyone know if the ligos audio decoder is the problem, or if I should be flushing the system by uninstalling windvd and deleting all mpeg decoders and then reinstalling, or if there's a simple way to select the non-crappy decoders.

BTW avi files pose no problem, and I can edit and encode to vcd with no problems. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

  2. i also have similar problems.

It applies to wmp6.4 and zoomplayer2.60. So, I am guessing this is problem with win2k and mpeg1 audio decoder.

When i drag the movie slider, the picture will be there but frozen, waiting for the sound to sync up to the picture. Once the sound are sync, the movie will play as normal.

    Could someone please help.

    Thanks in advance.
