I downloaded an AVI, and I can't open it. I have the correct codec installed (DivX 3.11, though I also have 5.0.2 installed) and I still can't open it. WMP just says 'Cannot Open'.
If I try to load and encode in TMPGEnc, its just a black screen...
Help would really be appreciated... I downloaded this 574MB file on 56k![]()

Are you sure you havethe right codec?
DID you ue vdub first to extract the wav?
Give a little more detail I'll see if I can help.We were all NEWBIES once and the only stupid question is the one that's not asked? -
Extract audio in Virtual Dub? I've never needed to do that before. Usually just double clicking the file plays AVIs.
And I'm positive I have the correct codec... I even used a program that detects what codec an AVI is compressed with. -
If you never have used vdub before then how have you converted in the past?
well You got me
the only other thing I can think of is
did you adjust the vfapi plugin. adjust direct show to 1 or 2We were all NEWBIES once and the only stupid question is the one that's not asked? -
Sorry i just realized you only want to play the file
I got confused when you said you tried to load it into tmpgenc
Did you try te smr patch or the nimo codec pack
both are in tools section.
Sorry again for the confusion
