Ok, i downloaded all of the staragate sg-1 episode rips. They are AC3. I converted the first 5 without any problem. Then i started converting the rest without testing them. After the first season (21 episodes), i started to burn them to CD and i realized the one I was burning the sound didnt work. I went back and tested the otehr ones I had spent hours converting. Low and behold most of them didnt work. About 5 out of the 15 worked, and those 5 were in no particular order in my converting sequence. On all the rest, after exactly 6 minutes into the movie, the sound stopped. I am using TMPGenc to convert them. For the AC3 I raised the priority of direct show to 2. I converted the first 5 just fine. I checked to make sure the DIVX files played right and they did. I also tried using tooLame to do the audio. same problem. Then I tried using a different type. I tried SVCD instead of VCD, and the same thing happened. Does anyone know why the sound just stops after 6 minutes? Is this something wrong with the DIVX file that I am converting? Thanks in advance...
EDIT: They do in fact work in SVCD format. It is only VCD that does not work. I'll keep doing more checking..

Try extracting the audio with besweet (tools, to your left) and converting the .ac3 audio to a stereo wav file. Then use this as the audio input to your TmpGenc conversion. This will hopefully solve your problems.
AFAIK VCD will only support stereo but VCD can suppport multicahnnel audio, though I am not sure how well TMPGenc coopes with converting to .mp2 multichannel format and then multiplexing. -
Search the forum please - this has been discussed at length - as recently as yesterday

Hey man im converting the same eps to vcd for my brother
Attempting 2 eps per one vcd(80-90minutes)
Been trying alot but tmpgenc cancels at 98% everytime i try to encode season 2 episode 1. Pissing me off. Ive tried converting the source to raw avi, right now I demux'd the audio, encoded it to vcd audio, and im trying the video seperate. if that doesnt work imma kill someone
It happens only with these SG1 eps. And get this. its not a problem at the end of the file. because I tried to encode just 3 minutes of video data before(with audio) and again at 98%(roughly) it stops. TMpgenc just locks up log just stops. Done this several times testing multiple parts of different eps
